My Chemical Romance was formed in 2001 by Gerard Way and Matt Pelissier. Frank Iero (guitarist), Ray Toro (guitarist), and Mikey Way (bassist) later joined the band. The band got its name from the book Three Tales of Chemical Romance. Mikey Way was working at a bookstore at the time and liked the name. Gerard founded the band after the events of September 11, 2001, he was selling comic books at the time. MCR is considered to have many different styles, alternative rock, pop punk, emo, post-hardcore, and punk rock. They were also known for their theatrical aesthetics. Gerard Way also designed most of the album covers.
The band put out their first album, I Brought You My Bullets. You Brought Me Your Love in 2002. The song "Skylines and Turnstiles" is written about the 9-11 events.

My Chemical Romance went their separate ways on March 22, 2013.

I love this band for many reasons, the lead singer went through a tough time in his life. He carefully crafts his lyrics to give his listeners the sense that everything will be okay in the end. Some of MCR’s songs can be sad and others you may wonder what on earth they are talking about. They wrote many of their songs about real life problems and struggles. MCR has even taken a public stance on anti-violence. This is a band that you will either love or hate, the decision is yours.
